Description
Vitamin B-6 refers to a group of chemically similar compounds, primarily pyridoxine, pyridoxal, and pyridoxamine, which are converted in the body to the active form, pyridoxal 5’-phosphate (PLP). B-6 is involved in over 100 enzymatic reactions, mainly in amino acid metabolism. In laboratory research, B-6 is commonly utilized to study neurotransmitter biosynthesis, hormonal regulation, and one-carbon metabolism.
